Ridin’ Durty 2.0
Ok, so some of you may have read about my horrible head on collision that I endured on my Mongoose Paver last weekend. Well, after a week or so of trying to find out how to fix its now bent front wheel, I have come to the conclusion that a busted $100 bike is very similar to an off-brand Walkman (yes, the kind that played cassette tapes) that I bought from the Dollar General Store when I was 10. When it breaks (and it will), fixing it will cost more than replacing it. So, sure enough, against all my convictions, I drove to Target and got a new bike. Yes, meet the Men’s Schwinn 700C Trail Way Hybrid:
So, I’ve only had it for a few hours, but I’ve ridden it around a little bit, and I’ve got to say that it is about a thousand times better than my old bike. First of all, it’s mostly a road bike, which means that it’d much, much lighter, and therefore less tiring to ride. And, second, the handlebars seem to be a little better placed for someone my height. So, I’m interested to see how this one works out. I’ll be sure to let everone know.
On a note of irony, of course, happened while I was on my way to pick up something that will ultimately save us money on car payments and on gas. You see, the little gas light flicked on to let me know that I only had enough gas to drive 18 more feetl, so I pulled into the gas station, and to my horror, this is what I saw after I filled up the tank on our Blue Beast:
THANK YOU FOR SHOPPING? No problem, and thank you for draining my bank account and ensuring that my son will be going to community college. Yeah, I’m actually fairly certain that this is the most I’ve ever paid at a gas station in any one stop in my entire life. And what is really scary is that I’m pretty sure it will only be getting worse in the coming weeks.
This bike better be amazing.

Is it wrong that I am actually jealous of your gas fill-up price? Although I do still shudder when the gas pump reaches $50 for min… and when it gets to $60 I tear up a little.
